Big 12 and SEC Agree to Bowl Matchup
According to CBSSports.com, The SEC will "announce today an agreement with the Big 12 for their champions to meet in a to-be-determined bowl game if they are not a part of the anticipated four-team playoff beginning in 2014." What does this mean? It means a lot of things, and all of them are good.
First, this puts both conferences in a strong position. This is obviously similar to the Pac-12 and Big Ten agreement, but it will be way better. We have seen how successful the Rose Bowl has been, now when you matchup two teams who are actually good, you will create even more hype. When there is hype, there is money.
This is also very good for TCU. It obviously helps solidify the Big 12 Conference which had been on unstable ground in the past couple of years. It also creates another really good bowl option that the Frogs could play in if they aren’t part of the Final Four. Thank God for no more Poinsettia Bowl!
Now, there is a good chance that this matchup never really works out how it is intended, but I could see them having some type of arrangement like the Rose Bowl does. The biggest questions at this point are where will the game be played, and how does this affect the Fiesta, Sugar, and Cotton Bowl? It is looking like the Sugar Bowl would be the best bet, but as long as it’s not the Fiesta Bowl I will be happy.
This is just another reason to be thankful that TCU got into the Big 12 when they did.

TCU Adds Transfer Abron to 2012-13 Roster
From TCU Athletics:
FORT WORTH—TCU men’s basketball head coach Trent Johnson has announced the addition of forward Devonta Abron to the team for the 2012-13 season. Abron, a Dallas native, is transferring to the Horned Frog program from Arkansas.
A 6-8, 255-pound product of Seagoville High School, Abron appeared in all 32 games for the Razorbacks last season as a true freshman, making 22 starts for a squad that posted an 18-14 overall record. He scored 5.7 points per game while leading Arkansas in rebounding average at 4.2 boards in just over 16 minutes per contest.
“Devonta is a big addition for our program,” Johnson said. “He is a great kid who has been a starter from a program that has played at a high level in a major conference. He is just another example of the type of player our staff is looking for as we enter the Big 12 Conference next season.”
Abron paced Arkansas in rebounding six times in 2011-12 while reaching double figures in boards on four occasions. One of his top performances came in a Dec. 3 road matchup at UConn when he set a career high with 16 rebounds, including 12 on the offensive glass. He set his career scoring high with 12 points Nov. 30 against Mississippi Valley State, one of five games in which he reached double figures.
Prior to joining Arkansas, Abron starred for Seagoville High School in Dallas, where he was rated as the nation’s No. 21 power forward prospect by Rivals.com and a three-star recruit by several outlets prior to his senior season. He earned 2011 Parade Third-Team All-America honors following his final campaign after averaging 24.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per contest. Following the season, Abron starred in the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star game played at TCU’s Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, earning MVP honors after posting 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Abron led District 4A-11 in both scoring (24.8 ppg) and rebounding (13.4 rpg) during his junior season in 2009-10 while being named Offensive Player of the Year. Overall in his Dragon career, he was named all-district three times while helping lead his squad to the state playoffs on two occasions. Among Abron’s other career highlights was a 50-point game as a sophomore in 2009 against North Dallas. He played AAU ball for the Dallas Mustangs.
Abron becomes the fourth addition to the TCU program for next season, joining incoming prep players Aaron Durley, Charles Hill and Clyde Smith III.
There’s Only One Thing Left to Do

If you are a TCU fan you have heard the smack talk from opposing fans that goes something like…TCU can’t even fill its own stadium, TCU uses opposing fans to fill Among G. Carter, TCU will never go to a BCS bowl, TCU wouldn’t survive being in a "real" conference…I could go on and on.
With The Carter officially selling out today, and TCU setting a new record of 30,000 season tickets sold, the haters are running out of ammunition. Opposing fans said "TCU couldn’t sell out its stadium" and Frog fans packed it for Texas Tech, Baylor, and Utah. Then it was, "oh, but you can’t do that consistently," and Frog fans sold out The Carter in 10 of the last 14 games. Today is a great day for TCU fans everywhere. No longer can the rednecks in Lubbock or the clowns in Waco spew their same tired, old, nonsense. Selling out the new stadium before TCU is even officially in the Big 12 shows how incredibly fired up the TCU community and city of Ft. Worth are about the Frogs.
TCU has three straight Mountain West Conference titles, back-to-back BCS games, a Rose Bowl win, and now a sold out stadium. There is really only one thing left to do and that is to win the whole f’ing thing! TCU is embarking on a new journey and I have no doubt that Big 12 titles and National Championships will be flooding into Ft. Worth before too long. The haters better get their shots in now, because your ammunition is running low.
