Six Shooter- Six Questions with Cowboys Ride for Free

Richard Rowe-US PRESSWIRE

Frogs O' War exchanges information with the Oklahoma State fans at Cowboys Ride for Free in advance of the showdown in Stillwater on Saturday.

Another Thursday on Frogs O' War means that it's time for another Q&A exchange with our SBNation brothers. This week we welcome the Cowboys Ride for Free crew as Cincy Joe answers my questions. I also answered some questions for him, so be sure to check Cowboys Ride for Free today and tomorrow as I provide my typical too long answers to their questions.

HawkeyedFrog: Oklahoma State has been a bit of an enigma so far this season, mixing three solid games with three poor ones (Including Kansas). How good is this team really, and does the quarterback change mean that the Cowboys will be back to the outfit that lost to Arizona instead of the group that stymied Iowa State?

CincyJoe: I have no idea how good this team is. We've been playing as a shell with the injury bug making itself home in Stillwater. The QB change is weird really. Walsh was coming in to his own, and then got hurt - just in time for Lunt to return. I don't think Lunt had anything to do with the loss to Arizona. That had more to do with our shit defense. But Lunt hasn't played much outside of that game so no one knows anything, really. Providing he stays healthy, this will be his first full game at home. He could be great, or he could suck. We just don't know.

HawkeyedFrog: Speaking of quarterbacks, we're heading into a freshman quarterback showdown this week as Trevone Boykin takes the Frogs up to Stillwater. How has the Okie State defense fared against running quarterbacks in the past and what do you think the plan will be to contain Boykin?

CincyJoe: Running QB's have killed us dating back to the 1980's. I don't want to talk about this anymore. (Ed. This answer makes me feel much better about our chances Saturday.)

HawkeyedFrog: He's a man. He's over forty. He's two wins away from bowl eligibility with a monstrous closing stretch. What are the fanbase's thoughts on the job Gundy and the coaching staff are doing at the halfway point this season?

CincyJoe: Gundy is the man. He's done exactly what he said he was going to do when he started. We've won the Big 12 and we've won a National Title. Yes, I consider us National Champions last year.

HawkeyedFrog: The cowboys have a great running back in Joseph Randle and a promising (but green) quarterback in Wes Lunt but the key to getting both of them going in this game will be the play of the Cowboy offensive line against the TCU D-line, led by All-everything freshman Devonte Fields. Will the Cowboys O-line be able to stand and deliver, or is there hand-wringing in the fandom about their performance?

CincyJoe: The offensive line has been a strength of Oklahoma State for some time now. We lost a few guys but we're still solid. We've got one of the best O-Line coaches in the country in Joe Wickline. The matchup with the TCU D-line is honestly the least of my concerns. They'll be fine.

HawkeyedFrog: Last year Oklahoma State won its first Big 12 championship ever, and their first overall conference championship since 1976. With the Big 12 being the deepest (or second deepest if you're dealing with a dyed in the wool ESS EEE SEE-er) conference in the country, how often do you expect the Cowboys to be serious contenders for the conference championship in a four year window?

CincyJoe: I expect Oklahoma State to be legitimate championship contenders from here on out.

HawkeyedFrog: It's obligatory prediction time, woo! Who do you like in the game, what will the score be and what record do you think Okie State finishes the year with?

CincyJoe: I like Oklahoma State at home here. I see a close win. 28-24. As far as the final record? Give me 9-3 with a trip to the Cotton Bowl

HawkeyedFrog: The Cotton Bowl? That's a bit more optimistic than I am for the Cowboys this season, but if they win this game I'll defer to their expertise. Thanks to CincyJoe for answering our questions this week and be sure to check out Cowboys Ride for Free to keep yourself up to date on the Cowboy menace before Saturday's game.

(Ed. We'll also have an additional Cowboy blogger Q&A answer session with our offseason answerer Kyle Porter tomorrow. Remember: Frogs O' War goes the extra mile to get you coverage, especially when we can get other people to do the writing for us!)
