The NCAA has granted Phillip Sims' request to waive the usual requirement that transfers between 1A schools sit out a year. Sims transferred from Alabama to Virginia after he did not win the starting job in Tuscaloosa a family emergency, and requested the waiver.

Of course the Hoos' coach Mike London is thrilled to get a bluest of blue-chip quarterbacks onto his team. Incumbent starter and senior Mike Rocco is practically and immediately demoted to backup, regardless what coach-speak comes from Charlottesville.

TCU will face Sims and the Cavs in game three, and then Garrett Gilbert and the Mustangs in game four.
