In news that shouldn’t shock you, the Big East Conference has dropped their lawsuit against TCU in which the conference accused TCU of reneging on an agreement to join the conference for athletics.

We all know the lawsuit wasn’t going to hold up, but it’s nice to see that TCU didn’t have to settle or go through a costly court procedure. TCU will pay the $5 million, but that is it.

NJ.com:

The organization, whose 16 members include Rutgers University, Georgetown University and Villanova University, dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning it can’t bring a new lawsuit on the same subject, according to a filing today in federal court in Washington.

Benjamin Block, Big East’s attorney, didn’t give a reason for dismissal in the filing. Block declined to comment in an e- mail. Lisa Albert, a spokeswoman for Texas Christian University, didn’t immediately respond to a voice-mail message seeking comment about the filing sent after regular business hours.
