The Horned Frogs of TCU have done the unthinkable. They are no longer in last place in the Big 12. Woot.
Here's your weekly rundown of each team.
1. Oklahoma - 28-10 (8-4). Streak: L3
The Sooners took 2 of 3 from Texas, then promptly lost two of three to Baylor and got swept in a two-game series by Arkansas-Little Rock. I wouldn't say the Sooners are reeling, but they're certainly not looking like the giant they were to begin the year.
Next Week: April 19-21 vs. New Orleans, April 23@ Arkansas
2. Kansas State - 27-11 (6-3). Streak: W3
The Wildcats are 9-1 in their last ten games, including a sweep of Texas Tech. They've got a hot hand right now as they hit the road against some tough Big 12 competition.
Next Week: April 19-21 @ Oklahoma State; April 23 @ Nebraska.
3. Baylor - 19-18 (7-4). Streak: L1
The Bears are working hard to turn their season around, and they've yet to lose a series against a conference opponent. However, they've lost a few games they probably should have won, i.e. vs. Texas State.
Next Week: April 19-21 @ TCU; April 23 @ Dallas Baptist
4. Kansas - 22-14 (7-5). Streak: L1
The Jayhawks are proving they're for real this year, and they have a soft part of their schedule coming up. Look for them to make a move up the standings.
Next Week: April 19-21 @ Texas Tech; April 23 vs. Oral Roberts; April 24 vs. Baker
5. Oklahoma State - 25-10 (5-6). Streak: W1
Oklahoma State has gone 4-4 so far in April, including series losses to Kansas and TCU. If they're not careful, they could play themselves out of the tournament.
Next Week: April 19-21 vs. Kansas State; April 23 vs. Wichita State
6. West Virginia - 21-17 (4-5). Streak: W2
The Mountaineers have a winning record in April (6-4) after going 12-9 in March. Looks like Randy Mazey is starting to turn things up a notch in Morgantown. Man I miss him.
Next Week: April 19-21 @ Texas; April 24 vs. Youngstown State
7. TCU - 17-20 (5-7). Streak: W2
The Frogs have started to turn a corner, but are they for real? Taking two of three from Oklahoma State and crushing UT-Arlington doesn't exactly shout, "We're back." That could change this week though.
Next Week: April 19-21 vs. Baylor
8. Texas - 20-15 (4-8). Streak: W1
Texas hasn't won a conference series yet this year, and that should be disturbing to all involved. Things don't get much easier the rest of April, and the Longhorns could see themselves out of the playoffs for the second straight year.
Next Week: April 19-21 vs. West Virginia; April 23 vs. Houston
9. Texas Tech - 17-20 (4-8). Streak: L7
Tech is in a textbook downward spiral, having lost seven straight games including an embarrassing loss to Lubbock Christian. They haven't won a game since their March 30th defeat of TCU, and things aren't looking up.
Next Week: April 19-21 vs. Kansas; April 23 vs. New Mexico State
