Sports Illustrated and ESPN are quoting a Dallas Morning News source that TCU QB Casey Pachall will miss 8 weeks due to a fractured left forearm (repaired by surgery Saturday) sustained just before halftime of the Horned Frogs victory over S.E. LA. The report did not specify whether or not the 8-wks was until he could play in a game or just participate in practices. It was his non-throwing are, which would help some. Given that he was already not yet back to top form from his suspension/rehab last year, this would give a very narrow window for him to get meaningful playing time... particularly since TCU hopes to be vying for a conference crown at that time. This could very well mean that his TCU career is effectively over.
Considered a sure shot to play in the NFL, that will now be a much tougher road. He would have to work back into shape, recover his famed sharpness/ precision (which he was already struggling with), and hope a team will take a chance on him with a lower draft pick (if not via tryout camps).
I know all of HORNED FROG nation joins me in wishing him the best of luck with the quickest/ strongest recovery, and a still successful pro career. Purple love to you always, Casey Pachall!
