Thanksgivings at Christmas

Check out Best TCU Photos 2014. Specifically, take a look at picture numbers 5 (where TCU players are hoisting the Big 12 Football Championship Trophy) and 40 (where TCU players are hoisting the Big 12 NCAA College Baseball Tournament Trophy). How often does that happen? How many times has the same school taken both a championship football and baseball trophy in the same year? Is it more common than I would guess?

Then see our historical 12-0 basketball start and the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram's article on the Rout of Grambling. Read Trent Johnson's end quote.

"For me, when this thing is built is when we’re having a conversation about being in multiple NCAA tournaments — four out of five years, five out of six years," he said. "That’s when it’s a finished product. Everywhere I’ve ever been, whether it’s been Stanford or it’s been Nevada or it’s been LSU, that’s when it’s been finished.

"Right now, we’re 12 games into the year. There’s a lot of basketball left to be played. A long way to go."

He's already made a tremendous start this season. It'll be amazing if he gets "this thing built." I'm holding my breath and keeping the fingers crossed that, at the conclusion of the season, he will have seen more progress than he's currently willing to hope for/discuss.

To whom or what do we owe our success? Is Del Conte a mad genius? Have Patterson's years of victories just brought in enough money to jumpstart the other sports? These aren't necessarily rhetorical questions - if anybody has answers I'd love to hear them.

Whatever the case, it's a good time to be Horned Frog fan. Merry Christmas, folks!
