Texas Tech Red Raiders tight end Jace Amaro could miss Saturday's contest against the TCU Horned Frogs because of an injury he suffered during last week's upset win over West Virginia, says quarterback Seth Doege.
Amaro, a 6-5 sophomore, suffered the injury after taking a hit to the midsection during the win. Prior to the injury, Amaro caught five passes for a staggering 156 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown strike to put Texas Tech up 7-0 in the first quarter.
Through Texas Tech's first six games, Amaro has caught 23 passes for 394 yards and four touchdowns, leading the team in receiving yardage.
The Red Raiders will also be without wide receiver Bradley Marquez, who will miss the remainder of the 2012 season with a knee injury. Marquez, a sophomore, will finish the season with 16 receptions for 172 yards. Seven of Marquez' receptions came in Texas Tech's Week 1 win over Northwestern State.
With Amaro and Marquez out, the Red Raiders will certainly need other weapons to step up on offense, as they face off against TCU's 31st-ranked passing defense this weekend.
