Inside the Numbers: TCU Loses Second Straight

The Frogs lost in miserable fashion Saturday afternoon in Stillwater falling to Oklahoma State 36-14. TCU has now lost back-to-back games and three of their last four. This losing stuff isn’t very fun. Time to go inside the numbers.

Trevone Boykin just didn’t have it clicking. Boykin was 21-40 for 185 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception. He overthrew, under threw, and missed receivers all day long.

A big problem for the offense was third downs. TCU only converted 2 of 14 third down opportunities which killed any kind of momentum they tried to get going.

LaDarius Brown had a career high 7 receptions for 67 yards and 1 touchdown. Brown has now caught a touchdown pass in 3 consecutive games. Josh Boyce also pitched in with 7 receptions for 74 yards.

The TCU defense allowed Oklahoma State to rack up 471 yards of total offense which is the most this defense has allowed all season. The Frogs have allowed opposing offenses to gain over 350 total yards in each of their last 4 games.

TCU allowed Oklahoma State to score 36 unanswered points which is the most since Texas Tech scored 56 unanswered in 2004.

Jaden Oberkrom was 0-2 on field goals missing from 52 and 31 yards. Coming into this game Oberkrom had made 14 of his last 15 attempts.

The Frogs had their 14 game conference road winning streak broken. TCU had not lost a conference road game since falling to Utah in 2008.

It won’t be any easier this week as TCU will have to find some way to slow down West Virginia. Just enjoy the roller coaster ride because that is all we can do at this point.
