It’s a big time weekend for the Horned Frogs as #2 Kansas State comes to town for a Big 12 showdown. The Wildcats are a great team so TCU must bring it’s A game. The Frogs can pull off the upset, but they must follow these Keys to the Game.
Make Collin Klein Uncomfortable: I think everyone expects Collin Klein to play on Saturday despite whatever injury he may or may not have. Either way, the Frogs have to get pressure on Klein and hit him every chance they get. I’m not talking about cheap shots, but if Klein wants to get out and run, TCU needs to make him pay.
Control the Clock: Kansas State has scored 35 or more points in seven of their nine games. They have a potent offense so TCU needs to run the ball, convert third downs, and keep the Wildcats offense on the sideline.
Turnovers: TCU has had major issues with turnovers all season long and if they want to win this game, they need to get that problem resolved real quick. KState has scored 111 points off turnovers this season, but has not given up any points off turnovers. TCU is going to need to force a turnover and capitalize on it if they want a chance to win.
Use Your Weapons: The Frogs have very talented offensive weapons. Get them involved early. Oklahoma State threw for 417 yards against the Wildcats. TCU can have the same kind of success in the passing game.
Be Perfect: Kansas State rarely makes mistakes so TCU cannot afford to play sloppy like they have in some games this season. The Frogs have to be focused and play their best game of the season. Eliminate turnovers, penalties, and negative plays.
This one won't be easy, but it’s going to be a lot of fun. The blackout is in full effect and I expect a great atmosphere at The Carter on Saturday night. TCU can pull off the upset, but they have to be near perfect. I think they can do it.
