For the seventh time in the last 10 years the TCU baseball team has earned a spot in the preseason polls coming in at No. 15 in the Collegiate Baseball poll released today. TCU finished the 2012 season ranked as high as 14th.
The Horned Frogs are no strangers to the preseason top 20 as they have been ranked 15th or higher in each of the last four preseason polls. Since Jim Schlossnagle took over the program, the Frogs have been ranked 21 or higher seven times.
TCU returns 17 letter-winners from last season's NCAA Super Regional squad that captured the NCAA College Station Regional title and went 40-22 overall. Additionally, five of the everyday field starters return as do eight pitchers. This past fall, TCU welcomed 16 new faces to the squad. The group was tabbed as the 11th best recruiting class in the nation by Baseball America.
No strangers to tough scheduling, the Horned Frogs 2013 slate of games features 12 games against opponents ranked in the top 25. TCU will open the season on the road against No. 25 Ole Miss on Feb. 15. The Frogs home schedule opens the following weekend against No. 23 Cal State Fullerton. The Big 12 conference slate features two more teams ranked in the top 25 in No. 14 Oklahoma and No. 21 Texas.
