I hope this new piece of information isn't true, but according to the Palm Beach Post, Florida State is interested in TCU linebacker coach Randy Shannon for their defensive coordinator position.
Jimbo Fisher may be looking at a former Florida State nemesis as his next defensive coordinator.
Randy Shannon’s name is causing a lot of buzz in South Florida when it comes to filling the void created when Mark Stoops left FSU to take over the Kentucky program. Shannon, the former Miami head coach and linebacker, is in his first season as the linebackers’ coach at TCU.
Shannon has always had a good relationship with the coaches in Tallahassee, even while running the Hurricanes program. And Stoops worked under Shannon at Miami, serving as the defensive backs coach for three years while Shannon was the Hurricanes’ defensive coordinator.
I really like having Coach Shannon on the staff and I think he brings a lot to the program. I cant really blame him though if he takes a defensive coordinator position. That is clearly a step up from being a position coach.
