Beginning a weekly series at Frogs O' War-- the Friday written dress-down of the following day's opponent. First up:
Wait, that team only has 53 scholarship players. That can't be right... (hold on, while your humble blogger re-checks the media guide).
Oh. It's Grambling State, a 2-A team.
This just ain't fair. Most of those kids (one of whom could have played at TCU, had he hit the books a little more) are going to walk on a field and be smaller, slower, weaker, and generally just not as good as the purple and white.
Honestly, the most insulting thing I can write about them is simply to tell this truth: these games between 1-A and 2-A teams should not be allowed. Or if they're allowed, they shouldn't count towards stats, bowl eligibility, or anything other than the despicable "We Pick On Smaller Kids" rankings.
(Yeah, six 2-A teams beat 1-A teams last week, but that doesn't change anything.)
I wish Grambling State the best; I hope they don't lose players to injury. I hope they get a big, fat check for their pains.
But come Sunday, all my questions about TCU will still be unanswered.
I wish these games weren't allowed.
