TCU begins its Big 12 rivalry with Iowa State at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on Saturday when it tips off against the Cyclones in a 12:47 p.m. matchup televised live by the Big 12 Network.

The Horned Frogs, 9-8 overall and 0-4 in the conference standings, conclude a brief two-game homestand that opened Wednesday with a 67-54 setback to No. 16 Kansas State. TCU will face another strong test in the Cyclones (12-4 overall; 2-1 Big 12), whose only Big 12 loss came in overtime at No. 4 Kansas in the league opener.

While TCU and ISU have never previously shared a conference, the squads have faced each other six times. Saturday's game will mark the first meeting between the squads in more than 15 years and also the first at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum since the 1981-82 season.

The Big 12 Network will televise Saturday's contest live on a regional basis on TXA-21 in the DFW area. Those viewers located inside the Big 12 footprint but outside the Metroplex should check local listings or Big12Sports.com for a local carrier in their area. The contest will also be offered on WatchESPN to qualified cable subscribers and on a pay-per-view basis via ESPN Full Court. Mitch Holthus (play-by-play) and Reid Gettys (color) will serve as the broadcast team.

Brian Estridge (pxp) and John Denton (analyst) will handle the TCU-IMG Sports Network radio broadcast, which will air live in the DFW Metroplex on both 1460 KCLE AM and 88.7 FM KTCU, as well as nationally on Sirius channel 112 and XM channel 192. Live stats will be available for free via GameTracker at GoFrogs.com, while a live stream of the radio broadcast will be offered online for FrogVision subscribers.

SCOUTING IOWA STATE
Iowa State enters Saturday's game at 12-4 overall and fifth place in the Big 12 standings with a 2-1 league mark. The squad's two conference wins have come at home against Texas and West Virginia, while its only loss was in overtime at No. 4 Kansas. Third-year head coach Fred Hoiberg guides a Cyclones group that returned seven letterwinners and two starters from last season's team that finished fifth in the Big 12 (23-11 overall; 12-6 Big 12) and reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

Senior guard Will Clyburn, a transfer from Utah in his first season playing for ISU, leads a potent Cyclones offensive attack that paces the Big 12 in scoring (81.6 ppg), 3-pointers (9.4 3pg) and assists (17.0 apg). Clyburn tops the team and ranks No. 7 in the league in scoring (14.1 ppg). Senior guard Tyrus McGee (12.8 ppg), freshman forward Georges Niang (11.3), junior forward Melvin Ejim (11.1 ppg) and senior guard Korie Lucious (10.4 ppg) also average double figures. Ejim is the Big 12's leading rebounder (9.6 rpg), Lucious is No. 3 in assists (5.6 apg) and McGee is No. 1 in both 3-pointers (2.9 3pg) and 3-point percentage (46.0%).

ISU ranks among the nation's top-100 teams in scoring (No. 7), rebounding (No. 9), 3-pointers (No. 10), assists (No. 11), offensive rebounding (No. 19), assist/turnover ratio (No. 46), 3-point percentage (No. 76) and field-goal percentage (No. 98).

INSIDE THE SERIES
TCU and Iowa State have met six times, each since the 1974-75 season. The first four matchups were a pair of home-and-home series with TCU taking 3-of-4 meetings, including the only two games between the teams in Fort Worth. The squads also played in the 1991 San Juan Shootout and the 1997 Puerto Rico Classic, both Frogs victories. TCU has won each of the last five meetings overall.

TCU lived up to its No. 25 national ranking with a dominating 93-54 victory over Iowa State in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Classic on Dec. 24, 1997 in San Juan.

The Horned Frogs, who went 3-0 on their way to taking home the tournament title, improved to 10-1 during their run to the 1998 WAC championship and NCAA Tournament.

Guard Mike Jones led a group of five Frog double-figure scorers with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Lee Nailon (18), Dennis Davis (14), James Penny (14) and Malcolm Johnson (11) added to a balanced Frog scoring attack.

TCU's defensive pressure dominated the contest, forcing ISU into 32 turnovers that led to 31 Purple points. The Frogs jumped out quickly while running out to a 30-point halftime lead (55-25). The squad also recorded a season-high nine blocked shots.

LAST TIME OUT: #16 K-STATE 67, TCU 54
Adrick McKinney scored a career high 18 points as TCU opened its week-long homestand with a 67-54 loss to No. 16 Kansas State on Wednesday at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

McKinney came alive for the Frogs in the second half, but it wasn't enough to offset a K-State squad that showed up to the DMC in sharp form. KSU connected on 48.2% of its field-goal tries, including 9-of-17 from 3-point range, and turned 12 TCU turnovers into 20 points. The Wildcats built a 13-point lead at the half and never looked back.

McKinney went 6-of-8 from the floor and 6-of-9 at the charity stripe on the way to his career performance. He totaled 12 of his scoring figure in the second half and added a team-high nine rebounds for the game, his sixth contest in the last nine with at least nine boards. Kyan Anderson added 10 points for TCU, while Devonta Abron had nine and six boards.

Rodney McGruder showed why he represented K-State on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, scoring a game-high 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting. He made a trio of 3-pointers, including two in the first period to help KSU build its big halftime lead. Martavious Irving, Adrian Diaz and Jordan Henriquez scored eight points each for the Wildcats, with Henriquez pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds.

TCU got off to a strong start, running out to an 8-2 lead in the first three minutes thanks to a pair of early 3's by Anderson and Charles Hill Jr. The Wildcats moved in front for the first time midway through the half with an 8-0 spurt finished off by a trey by Will Spradling.

K-State continued to attack, moving on top by 10 points, 24-14, with just over five minutes left in the opening period following another long run, this one 9-0. Diaz started it up with back-to-back buckets, while Angel Rodriguez added KSU's third trey of the half. The Wildcats closed the half outscoring TCU by a 12-4 count in the final three-and-a-half minutes. Irving scored on a layup at the buzzer to send the Frogs to the locker room trailing by a 38-25 count.

TCU-K-STATE POSTGAME NOTES
* McKinney led TCU in scoring for the second time this season and in rebounding for the team-high ninth time.

* McKinney reached double figures in points for the sixth time this season, including the fifth time in the last nine contests.

* Garlon Green matched a career high with four assists to lead the Frogs in the category.

* Kemal Dincer made his first career appearance late in the second half, playing two minutes.

* TCU utilized its ninth different starting lineup this season and the fourth different group in its last four games. The Frogs started Kyan Anderson, Charles Hill Jr., Nate Butler Lind, Green and Abron for the first time.

* Kansas State's nine 3-pointers were three more than any previous TCU opponent had made this season.

MCKINNEY STEPPING UP DOWN LOW
Adrick McKinney looks essentially like a new player on the court for TCU in his second and final season on campus.

* McKinney leads TCU in rebounding (No. 11 in Big 12) and is No. 3 on the team in scoring average. He tops the Frogs in both categories during conference play.

* McKinney has led TCU in rebounding a team-high nine games, twice in scoring and twice in assists. Each of those nine rebounding efforts have been in the last 11 games. He had paced the squad only five times in 37 career contests entering the current stretch.

* McKinney is averaging 9.8 ppg and 9.7 rpg over the last nine contests with at least eight boards seven times.

* McKinney set a new scoring high during the Jan. 16 home loss to Kansas State, leading TCU with 18 points. He went 6-of-8 from the floor and added a team-high nine rebounds

* McKinney has scored at least seven points in 10 of the last 11 games. He only had two such efforts in the first six games.

* McKinney leads TCU with two double-doubles this season and three in his career. He went for 10 points and 10 rebounds in TCU's Dec. 22 win at Rice and 10 points and 20 boards in the Dec. 4 home loss to Houston.

* McKinney's 20 boards vs. Houston, the most by a Big 12 player this season, also were the most for a Frog since Jamal Brown had 26 during a Dec. 23, 2001 win over North Texas.

* While McKinney did make 16 starts a season ago, he shot only 42.1% from the field. So far this season, he has improved that rate to 51.0%, which ranks second on the team.
