The Frog men play their first conference basketball game tonight when they take on Texas Tech at Daniel Meyer Coliseum.
Both teams have had decent starts against mediocre (at best) competition, and neither is expected to do much in conference play. However, the Frogs can exact a small measure of revenge by getting a win against the Red Raiders, who saw their football team come into Fort Worth and take a triple overtime thriller from TCU.
Texas Tech is lead by Junior forward Jaye Crockett. Crockett is averaging 15.2 points per game to go with 9.2 rebounds per game. He's a force down low, and is shooting almost 60% from the floor this year.
Alongside Crockett is Junior forward Dejan Kravic, who is averaging 10.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. The two pose a big threat to the Frogs tonight, as TCU struggles rebounding the ball and defending the paint.
Adrick McKinney and Devonta Abron have their work cut out for them no doubt.
Freshman guard Josh Gray leads the offensive attack from the guard spot for Texas Tech. He's the third Red Raider player that averages double digits in scoring (10.4).
Kyan Anderson will need to have a big game for TCU tonight, and the team needs to work really hard on getting strong rebounds and eliminating second chance points.
It's going to be a big task, but I think they're up for it.
TCU has seven games in January, and frankly this game is the most winnable. Let's hope they can pull it out.
Go Frogs.
