Last week Baylor lost confidence in a close win, Fungo lost money as Oklahoma looked lost and the Frogs lost three fumbles but still ended up in the winners column. It's not easy to predict the Big 12, but every week the Frogs O' War staff step forward to prognosticate- feel free to join in in the comments!
Texas Tech Red Raiders @ West Virginia Mountaineers
HawkeyedFrog: Texas Tech 39, West Virginia 31
Last year things went badly for an undefeated and ranked West Virginia heading into a hostile environment a long ways from home as their high powered offense fizzled against a team that had lost by 21 points in its previous outing. Very similar to this year's Tech team on paper, but the Mountianeers lost to Baylor by 31 points instead of 21, and Tech's defense is world's better than the 2012 Mountaineers. Tech trails at the half but secures a lead they don't give up at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Fungo Frog: Texas Tech 42, West Virginia 17
Trap game? Yep. I could see West Virginia jumping up here, but it isn't that likely. If it did happen, it would only continue a wild and wacky season of football in the Big 12. If you are a TCU fan, you want West Virginia to pull the upset, chaos is a good thing for us at this point.
Jamie Plunkett: Texas Tech 49, West Virginia 28
West Virginia has already used up their upset magic for the season, this one doesn't stay close for very long. However, like Fungo said, Frog fans should be pulling for the blue and gold.
Oklahoma Sooners @ Kansas Jayhawks
HawkeyedFrog: Oklahoma 52, Kansas 13
Oklahoma is going to come out angry after their first loss to the Longhorns in years, and Kansas will fall behind early enough where they have to throw to attempt to keep up. These attempts go very, very poorly.
FungoFrog: Oklahoma 27, Kansas 10
Oklahoma will win, but once again the Jayhawks defense will look like it has signs of being average. Unfortunately, they are still bad, and OU is still talented, so this one likely won't work out for Kansas.
Jamie Plunkett: Oklahoma 42, Kansas 17
Kansas does this weird thing where they actually force turnovers and try hard. Odd, isn't it? Anywho, it doesn't work again this week.
Iowa State Cyclones @ Baylor Bears
HawkeyedFrog: Baylor 52, Iowa State 30
The Bears stall early, but are too talented for Iowa State to seriously challenge. The Bears starters do play in the third quarter, but the fourth is once again the realm of the second string.
FungoFrog: Iowa State 17, Baylor Bears 62
Baylor is going to get back to their roots, scoring, and Iowa State is going to get back to their roots, sucking. Oh, you wanted more than that? Sorry.
Jamie Plunkett: Baylor 52, Iowa State 35
Baylor is an incredible team, don't get me wrong, but Kansas State showed everyone that they can be beaten. Slow the game down, grind it out on the ground, and try to lock down their receivers a bit, and you can take it to them. Iowa State doesn't do any of that and Baylor does Baylor things on them.
TCU Horned Frogs @ Oklahoma State Cowboys
HawkeyedFrog: TCU 27, Oklahoma State 23
Last year the Frogs started fast, rolling off the first 14 points of the game before totally shutting down the rest of the way. If the Frogs score 14 points in the first half this time, I'll predict victory. I think the Frogs get 10 points in the first half, but get a defensive touchdown in the second half to secure the win- and the Frogs only turn the ball over once against the Cowboys.
FungoFrog: TCU 17, Oklahoma State 20
Yet another close loss for the Horned Frogs, leaving TCU fans shaking their heads after TCU comes back to score 17 unanswered in the second half, before giving up a late FG to the Cowboys in the final minutes of the game. The outrage will grow and Gary's hot seat will only get hotter. The Matthews era will begin in the fourth quarter, giving TCU fans a small glimmer of hope for the future.
Jamie Plunkett: TCU 19, Oklahoma State 17
This is going to be so much grind it out-ness that I think I'll sit through a birthing class today instead of watching it. Yes, that's real, I have to go to birthing class today. Jaden Oberkrom feels bad for me, and kicks a 52 yarder as time expires to win it for the Frogs.
