Frogs O' War Weekend Picks: Week 14

The FoW Crew steps forward once again to make their picks for this week's Big 12 games.

This is the final week of play for six of the Big 12's teams (TCU included) so it's a big week for picks as the FoW crew tries to rack up some last minute prediction wins to salvage an interesting season.  The picks come early this week thanks to Texas' Thanksgiving matchup with Tech, so feel free to drop your own thoughts in the comments.

Texas Tech Red Raiders @ Texas Longhorns

Jamie Plunkett: UT 38, Tech 24
Texas, despite watching Mack Brown's career burst into flames against Oklahoma State, still has a solid team. Tech is doing it's typical second-half-of-the-season Tech thing and doing it's best Mack Brown's career impression, bursting into flames.

HawkeyedFrog: Tech 31, UT 20
With Baker Mayfield at quarterback and no Johnathan Gray for Texas, the Red Raiders can control the tempo of the game and finally pick up a win in Austin.

Alas, poor Kliff, we hardly knew ye.

Marshall Weber: Texas 41, Texas Tech 31
Mayfield's mobility makes the game interesting until Texas remembers that he's Baker Mayfield. Horns pull away late in the game.

Kansas State @ Kansas

Jamie Plunkett: Kansas State 49, Kansas 17
Kansas, poor Kansas. Lost to Iowa State and they're right back in the Big 12 dumpster. I mean basement. No, dumpster is appropriate.

HawkeyedFrog: Kansas State 37, Kansas 31
Kansas rallies late and comes close, but can't close the deal, leaving the KU administration with some tough questions about Charlie Weis.

spfleming: Kansas 14 Kansas State 13
Why not? I believe in Kansas. (I'm really picking this game this way so that I'll have some vested rooting interest outside the Frogs this week).

Marshall Weber: Kansas State 52, Kansas 17
Charlie Weis can't spark any magic in Lawrence. Tyler Lockett, perhaps the Big 12's most underrated player, puts up some insane numbers for the Wildcats and K-State wins big.

Iowa State Cyclones @ West Virginia Mountaineers

Jamie Plunkett: West Virginia 31, Iowa State 27
This one will be close, but there's no way the Mountaineers lose to Kansas AND Iowa State, right? If they do, we'll need a Dana Holgorsen cam to see what kind of destruction he causes at the nearest casino.

HawkeyedFrog: Iowa State 31, West Virginia 16
West Virginia has been a much better team at home than on the road, but I think that with nothing to play for Iowa State has more pride than the Mountaineers.

spfleming: West Virginia 31 Iowa State 30 (4OT)
This will easily be the most unwatchable game of the season, until a 3-3 tie goes to overtime and Iowa State plays for the win but fails.

Marshall Weber: West Virginia 28, Iowa State 17

Baylor Bears @ TCU Horned Frogs

Jamie Plunkett: Baylor 42, TCU 30
I think TCU keeps this game close for a while, I really do. Using the same style of defense that OSU used to shut the Bears down works for a bit, but they get worn down at the end. The offense picks up where it left off against Kansas State, but peters out in the end as well.

HawkeyedFrog: TCU 30, Baylor 29
Yes, Hawk is going for the upset.  With a week to prepare and OSU's defensive gameplan to work with, I think TCU stymies Baylor early and is able to hold on to the lead late- an Oberkrom field goal seals the win for the Frogs at the last minute and the goalposts come down.  The image as the game goes off air is Patterson embracing Casey Pachall.

spfleming: Frogs 24 Bears 21

Frogs forever. I really think the boys will pull this out, although your guess is as good at mine.

Marshall Weber: Baylor 31, TCU 28
This one is going to feel a lot like the K-State game. The Frogs and Bears trade blows throughout the game, but the Frogs' Achilles' heel of stupid penalties and a bad offensive line catch up with them and the Bears squeak one by in The Fort.
