Chris Del Conte, speaking to Fox Sports Southwest during halftime of Friday's game vs. SMU, said the renovation of Daniel- Meyer Coliseum has been approved by TCU's Board of Trustees. The project, originally pegged at $45 million, will officially total $59 million and feature a revamped exterior, locker room, TCU Hall of Fame, fan facilities and office space.
Del Conte indicated that $45 million has already been raised for the project, and the remainder of funds needed should be in hand before the start of construction. Almost 70 donors came together in less than a year to commit the funds needed for the project.
Construction will begin in March of 2014 and is expected to be completed prior to the start of the 2015-2016 season. The TCU Men's Basketball team will play the 2014-2015 basketball home games at the Fort Worth Coliseum, while the Women's Basketball team will play home games in the TCU Recreation Center where the TCU Volleyball team currently plays.
Fans should expect a full release from TCU on Monday including new renderings of the new DMC.
