TCU's basketball team is looking up since a humiliating loss to Longwood, having won six out of their last seven games. Next on the docket is the 1-4 Grambling State, who just earned their first win on Monday night against Division 2 Central Baptist College. Grambling simply isn't a good team, and in their four losses, to DePaul, Marquette, Missouri State and Arizona State, they've lost by an average of 38 points per game. That is not a typo. TCU shouldn't lose this game, and in fact, they've never lost to Grambling State, going 10-0 in the previous 10 meetings.
The Tigers are led by junior guard A'Torri Shine, who is averaging 20 points per game and scored 27 in the win on Monday. Shine's partner in the backcourt, Antwan Scott, is averaging 17 points per game, but beyond them the Tigers struggle to score. As a team, Grambling State is shooting 35% from the floor this season. With TCU's good zone defense anchored by Karviar Shepherd in the middle, this shouldn't be a difficult game.
Shepherd is looking to record his third straight double digit rebounding performance, and his second straight double double.TCU will still be without Amric Fields, but that shouldn't be cause for alarm in this contest.
This game could help build some serious momentum moving into the next two weeks, as TCU takes on Tulsa again, followed by a Texas Southern team that just knocked off Temple.
