On The Recruiting Trail: December 19th

It's recruiting season and like Gary says, it's heating up.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Jared Cornelius switching back to Arkansas was definitely a huge hit, but if you follow GP on Twitter (and I'm sure you do)...you know that recruiting season doesn't sleep for Christmas.

Considering The Frogs:

Solomon Thomas

Position: Defensive End

Twitter: @SollyThomas90

Height/Weight: 6-3, 263

High School: Coppell

Also Considering: Stanford, Texas, Ohio State

Ratings:

· ESPN: 4 Star, ranked 32nd overall nationally

· Rivals: 4 Star, ranked 31st overall nationally

· Scout: 5 Star

· 247: 4 Star

Report: Thomas doesn’t do anything fancy nor is he particularly fast, but he has great strength and has extremely consistent productivity. He needs a little work in the pass rush, but he’s one of the toughest defenders against the run in the country.

It shouldn’t be a surprise (given his size and run defense) that Thomas favors Stanford. However, Gary and company might benefit from with the "drama" happening at Thomas’ second choice, Texas. It's a stretch for sure, but like I said earlier in the week...it's Christmas time. Let me dream.

The Highlight Tape:

Justin Hughes

Position: Linebacker

Height/Weight: 6-1, 205

High School: Tucker High (Tucker, Georgia)

Also Considering: Kansas State, Syracuse

Ratings:

· ESPN: 3 Star

· Rivals: 2 Star

· Scout: 2 Star

· 247: 3 Star

Report: Hughes is another one of those under-the-radar guys that would fit perfectly into the Gary Patterson program. In addition to being a solid pass rusher with tremendous instinct in both zone and man coverage, Hughes also has great size, versatility, strength, and range. Another huge plus is that Tucker is noted for his hard-nosed tackling and not allowing many yards after contact.

The Highlight Reel:

Future Frogs: The Commits

Nick Foster

Position: Cornerback

Twitter: @N_Fosterrr

Height/Weight: 5-11, 180

High School: Fossil Ridge (Keller, TX)

Ratings:

· ESPN: 3 Star

· Rivals: 3 Star

· Scout: 3 Star

· 247: 4 Star

Report: Foster is very well rounded and blends strength and speed well despite his slimmer framer. With the loss of Jason Verrett and Elisha Olabode, Foster’s timing to TCU is perfect and he could get some early PT in Forth Worth next fall.
