Amric Fields Suffers Setback

The forward had to undergo a second procedure, and won't be cleared for contact until October.

According to Travis L. Brown of the Fort Worth Star Telegram, senior forward Amric Fields has suffered a setback during his recovery from a torn ACL, and he won't be cleared for contact until October. Essentially, he will not have played for almost an entire year.

From Brown's Star Telegram article:

On Tuesday, Johnson said Fields underwent a follow-up procedure and that the setback will keep him out of contact drills until October.

Fields was averaging 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game and shooting 64 percent from the field last season prior to the injury.

"He can cause a lot of problems from the standpoint of matching up because he can play on the perimeter and he can play on the post," Johnson said. "He has a very good skill set."

The key for Johnson and the TCU training staff is to take things slow, he said.

This hurts TCU's depth at power forward, but the Frogs should be able to cover for Fields as they did the second half of last year as long as Jarvis Ray stays healthy.

This definitely isn't welcome news for TCU basketball after the high from such a fantastic 2013 recruiting class.
