While we hope for a speedy resolution on Karviar Shepard it's nice to have a bit of good news to report on the TCU basketball front, and today that good news arrives in the form of UTEP forward Chris Washburn who will be transferring to TCU. As a transfer, Washburn will have to sit out the 2013-2014 season but for TCU to pick up a strong former four star (on Scout. We always pick the highest rating site) who boasted offers from Baylor, A&M and Oklahoma State before choosing UTEP is excellent. Washburn was interested in heading to a program closer to home after he felt that his name was dragged through the mud by the media in El Paso, where a local news station implicated him in an assault on a bouncer. When further details came out it turned out to not be the case, Washburn was at the bar but not involved in the altercation it left a bad taste in his mouth for the UTEP media.

After sitting out the 2013-2014 season, Washburn will be a redshirt sophomore with three years of eligibility and should contribute to a suddenly very strong forward position for the frogs. Washburn averaged 4.4 points and 2.9 rebounds in 14 minutes of play in his lone season for the Miners. Welcome aboard Chris, and go frogs!
