TCU Ranked No. 10 in AP, Coaches Polls

The Horned Frogs are the highest-ranked Big 12 team in the latest edition of the AP and Coaches polls.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

After a thorough beat down of Oklahoma State, TCU (5-1, 2-1) jumped a few spots in both the AP and Coaches Polls, and now sits at No. 10 in both. The Frogs are the highest-ranked Big 12 team, and one of five Big 12 teams that crack the Top 25.

Kansas State (5-1, 3-0) comes in at No. 11 in both polls, while Baylor (5-1, 3-1) comes in at No. 12 in the AP, and No. 13 in the Coaches.

No. 17/18 Oklahoma and No. 22/25 West Virginia round out the Big 12 teams.

Meanwhile, the SEC love fest continues, as five SEC teams crack the Top 10, with four SEC West teams ranked in the Top 5. Compare these things. Auburn dropped three whole spots in the AP poll after losing to Mississippi State, while Oklahoma State dropped out of the rankings completely (from No. 15) after losing to TCU. Just so we're clear, two of the SEC teams ranked in the Top 5 have losses to the other two SEC West teams ranked in the Top 5. The four teams also have four games remaining against each other (Alabama/Mississippi St, Alabama/Auburn, Auburn/Ole Miss, Ole Miss/Mississippi St). So eventually two or three of them have to drop, right?

One ACC team (Florida State), one Pac-12 team (Oregon), one Big 10 team (Michigan State), one Big 12 team (TCU) and an independent (Notre Dame) round out the Top 10.
