From the desk of Mark Cohen:
The Big 12 Conference has announced that TCU's Oct. 18 home football game versus Oklahoma State will have a 3 p.m. kickoff and be televised on FOX Sports 1.The No. 9 Horned Frogs and No. 16 Cowboys will be meeting for the first time in Fort Worth as Big 12 rivals. TCU played in Stillwater the last two seasons.
This game will be the first between the Cowboys and Frogs to be played in Fort Worth, as Cohen notes above, thanks to an agreement made between Oklahoma State and Texas A&M a few years before all the conference jumping took place. When TCU took over Texas A&M's schedule, they also took over the agreed two straight games in Stillwater.
Currently, Oklahoma State sits at 4-1, ranked No. 16 in the AP Poll, and No. 18 in the Coaches Poll. Their lone loss was a season opener to Florida State, and since then they've cruised to four straight wins over Missouri State, UTSA, Texas Tech and Iowa State.
Backup quarterback Daxx Garman has taken over for J.W. Walsh, who suffered a season-ending foot injury against Missouri State, in Week 2 of the season. Since then Garman has helped the Cowboys average just over 41 points per game.
The Cowboys play Kansas in Lawrence this upcoming Saturday. If the Cowboys win, which they should, it will be the third consecutive week TCU faces a ranked opponent. If the Frogs beat Baylor, they could come into the game ranked in the Top 5 in the country.
