Karviar Shepherd and the TCU Horned Frogs started the season off right, recording his first double-double of hopefully many to come. His 13 points and ten rebounds helped lead the Frogs to a 17 point win over Prairie View A&M, but he wasn't the only Frog to get things going.
Senior Trey Zeigler, the Pitt transfer, led TCU with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting, pulling down seven rebounds as well.
Kyan Anderson (12) and Kenrich Williams (11) also scored in double figures for the Frogs.
Rebounding, a massive issue for the Horned Frogs last season, was not a problem tonight as TCU pulled down 50 boards. Shepherd led the way with ten, and three other Frogs (Williams, Zeigler, Washburn) pulled down six or more.
As a team the Frogs shot 45.1% from the floor, but only 20% (3-of-15) from three point range. That should right itself as we progress through the season.
The Panthers were led by Tre Hagood and Karim York, both of whom scored 13 points each. Montrael Scott added 11 points, but no other Panther player scored more than three.
TCU also attempted an incredible 39 free throws, making 22, thanks to 29 fouls from Prairie View A&M.
The Horned Frogs host Washington State on Monday. The game will be televised on FSSW+.
