TCU faced off against a semi-familiar opponent this evening, squaring off against Mississippi State in the championship game of the Corpus Christi Coastal Classic.
The Horned Frogs moved to 7-0 with a 61-52 victory, dropping Mississippi State to 5-1 on the season.
The Frogs were led by Chris Washburn, who recorded 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Amric Fields, looking as healthy as he has in several seasons, added 11 points, and Kenrich Williams recorded a 10-point 11-rebound double-double.
The win was the fourth of the week for the Frogs, who defeated Mississippi Valley State on Monday, Radford on Wednesday, and Bradley on Friday in the first round of the Coastal Classic.
Kyan Anderson spent the majority of the game on the bench, as he was in foul trouble for the second consecutive night. In his stead true freshman Chauncey Collins stepped up in a big way, moving the ball well and playing solid defense.
After an abysmal rebounding effort on Friday, the Frogs bounced back, winning the rebounding battle 37-33.
TCU now gets a few days off, as they recover from four games in six nights. Their next contest will be Thursday, when they travel to Oxford, MS to play Ole Miss in the Big12/SEC Challenge.
