TCU Wins Big 12 Title

Alexander dominates as TCU beats OSU 7-1 and grabs the Big 12 crown.

The cat's outta the bag---TCU's really, really good at baseball. TCU jumped out to an early lead in the 2nd. With the help of some OSU errors, the Frogs broke the game open in the 4th, making 5-1. TCU later tacked on another run to make it 6-1 thanks to a clutch single by Jerrick Suiter to bring in Garrett Crain. OSU brought in a position player in the 8th and that's pretty much how the day went for them as a whole. Suiter scored on a sac-fly by Kyle Bacack in the bottom of the 8th to make 7-1 and that would be the final. Alexander pitched his first complete game and sealed TCU's first Big 12 title.

Once again, the credit goes Tyler Alexander---who again, has done nothing but get better this season. Throwing a complete game, allowing one earned-run on four hits, striking out four and allowing no walks---the young'n from Southlake never lost his composure and dominated a very, very good Oklahoma State offense. Alexander's slider was on the money all day, and thanks TCU's big surge in the 4th, the Cowboy hitters were never able to recover. Before this game started, Alexander had an outstanding 1.12 ERA over his last four games. It only got better today.

Offensively, TCU did executed perfectly both big and small---a perfect combination of both patience and execution. Also, if there was an award for bunting, Kyle Bacack would win it. Also can't give Bacak enough credit for the outstanding work he's doing behind the plate.

Will it be enough for the National seed? It should. Schloss said during the in-game interview that the winner of this game deserved a National seed. TCU was pure fire in the second the half, and winning 27 of the last 30 games plus a Big 12 tournament Championship should put the Frogs in prime position to get that National seed. We'll find out tomorrow a 11am. Until then, let's enjoy our Big 12 Championship.

Go Frogs!
