TCU Football Duo Receives Academic Honor

It's always nice to hear about the positive things TCU student-athletes accomplish, and today two football players have been recognized nationally.

Jon Koontz and John Wooldridge have received a national academic honor for college football players, according to a press release from TCU SID Mark Cohen.

Here's the full presser:

TCU football student-athletes Jon Koontz and John Wooldridge have received membership into the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame's Hampshire Honor Society.

The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players who maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better throughout their collegiate career.

Koontz and Wooldridge both played the 2013 season as graduate students.

Koontz arrived at TCU as a walk-on, before earning a scholarship and becoming a team captain. The Aledo, Texas, native started all 12 games at defensive end last season. He placed third on the Horned Frogs in both tackles for loss (9) and sacks (4). Both numbers represented career-best totals.

Wooldridge, a Houston native, made five starts at offensive guard while appearing in all 12 games.

Congrats, Jon and John!

Hopefully someone will step up and replace Koontz's leadership both on and off the field.
