Update (10:35 a.m.): A new article by Deanna Boyd of the Fort Worth Star Telegram sheds more light on the situation surrounding Devonte Fields. According to the article, Fields was involved in an argument with an ex-girlfriend. Here's a section of Boyd's article:

"Haley stated that she thought Devonte was holding a gun in one of his hands and stated that he pointed it at her," the report states.

"I should blast you!" he yelled at Haley, according to the report.

The report states Fields then came to the home’s front door and was let inside by their mutual friend’s roommate.

"Haley stated that Devonte continued to yell at her and punched her in the face one time with a closed fist," the report states

Officers observed Haley’s right cheek to be swollen with a small cut her eye. She refused to be taken to the hospital for further evaluation and told officers she did not want to pursue charges against Fields.

Police, however, told her that a report and family violence packet must be completed.

Haley told police she had dated Fields, a former standout player at Arlington Martin High School, for two years but that the couple had broken up on June 1.

So, there's that.....

-----------------------------------------

Original Story: There was a major argument among TCU faithful about Devonte Fields' true role in his mugging and robbing back in January. Some said it was a drug deal gone wrong, others wanted to say he was simply a victim.

There's no doubt this could lead to more of the same.

According to yahoo.com, Fields has been named as a suspect in a domestic disturbance call that happened early Sunday morning.

Sergeant Raymond Bush of the Fort Worth Police Department confirmed that Fields was a suspect.

"I can confirm Devonte Fields is a suspect in a domestic disturbance call in Fort Worth, but we will have no further comment at this time," Sgt. Raymond Bush said Tuesday morning.

I like to think someone is innocent until proven guilty, as does our country, but others will no doubt see this the other way. He'll be lambasted, and, ultimately, it may be deserved. We won't know for a while though.

Fields was named the Big 12 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year earlier this week, despite missing the majority of 2013 with a foot injury. He was also suspended for the first two games of the season last year.
