Frogs in the League: Week 2

Week 2 in the NFL proved to be a good one for a lot of former TCU Horned Frogs. Several players set personal records this week. Can you guess who?

Andy Dalton (QB):

This Week: Dalton helped lead the Bengals to a 2-0 record with a 24-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons. He completed 15 0f 23 passes for 252 yards. He averaged 16.8 yards per completion and threw for his second touchdown this season.

Season Statistics: 40-61 (65.6%) for 656 yards, 9.1 yards per pass with 2 TDs and 0 INTs.

Marcus Cannon (OT):

This Week: Cannon got his second start for the New England Patriots win 30-7 over the Minnesota Vikings, which happened to be the same score that TCU beat the University of Minnesota by (it's a sign...)

Season Statistics: Cannon is 2/2 starting games this fall.

Tank Carder (LB):

This Week: Carder saw some action for the Cleveland Browns in their thrilling comeback victory over the New Orleans Saints 26-24.

Season Statistics: Carder has yet to record a statistic on defense this season.

Clint Gresham (LS):

This Week: Gresham was the long snapper in the Seattle Seahawks loss to the San Diego Chargers. This is the first lose for the defending Super Bowl championships.

Season Statistics: Gresham is 2/2 in starting games this season.

David Hawthorne (LB):

This Week: Hawthorne recorded 9 tackles, including 4 solo in a lose to the Saints. His nine tackles led the team and his 17 tackles overall this season lead the Saints as well.

Season Statistics: Hawthorne is 2/2 starting games this season. He has recorded 17 tackles, with 10 of them being solo.

Jerry Hughes (DE):

This Week: Hughes recorded his first sack of the 2014 season, in his second start for the Buffalo Bills. The Bills improved to 2-0 by beating down the Miami Dolphins.

Season Statistics: Hughes is 2/2 in starting games this season. He has 6 total tackles, with 3 of them being solo and 1.0 sack.

Colin Jones (S):

This Week: The second year Carolina Panther saw some action for the second straight week at safety in their 24-7 win over the Detroit Lions.

Season Statistics: Jones has 1 tackle on the season so far.

Jeremy Kerley (WR):

This Week: Kerley caught 3 passes for 37 yards in this weeks 31-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers. He also recorded 37 yards on a lateral pitch from quarterback Geno Smith.

Season Statistics: Kerley has started 1/2 games this season. He has caught 8 passes for 75 yards, with a long reception of 19 yards.

Stansly Maponga (DE):

This Week: Maponga saw some action versus the Bengals this week. He did not record a defensive statistic.

Season Statistics: Maponga has 1 solo tackle on the season.

Marshall Newhouse (OT):

This Week: Newhouse got some playing time as he blocked for Andy Dalton and the Bengals.

Jason Verrett (CB):

This Week: Verrett got his first start in the NFL this week! The Chargers were able to upset the Seahawks at home. He made a season high 5 tackles as well.

Daryl Washington (LB):

The Pro Bowl alternate from 2013 did not see any action for the second week in a row.
