Of the more than 25 players polled during Saturday’s CFP Championship Game media day, all but five named TCU as the best of the rest despite their No. 6 seeding by the playoff committee.
"In my 17 years (at TCU), 14 years as a head coach, I think I can name the times I said something I shouldn't have said, and that comes to a total of four," Patterson said. "At the end of the year last year, I got after some people and, after I did that, I said I wasn't doing the profession nor was I doing college football or our league or anybody else any good."
In order to best position the league for a spot in future playoff games, Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said the conference will continue to discuss how it crowns a conference champion, look into the importance of a 13th game and consider requiring a Power 5 conference opponent in nonconference schedules.
