The TCU Horned Frogs continue to gain respect as they earned the No. 2 spot in the Collegiate Baseball polls released in December. After winning the Big 12 Conference Tournament and going to the College World Series, the Frogs will no longer be an underdog as they strive to have fans yell 2014's famous phrase once again, "Toad to Omaha!".
The road will not be an easy one for the Frogs, as there are four Big 12 teams ranked in the preseason top 10. TCU will have weekend series versus No. 5 Oklahoma State, No. 7 Texas and No. 9 Texas Tech. Both Texas and Texas Tech went to the College World Series with TCU last year. TCU went a combined record of 7-4 versus those teams last season (including the Big 12 Tournament and neutral site game versus TTU).
Coach Jim Schlossnagle continues to put together another tough schedule as his 2015 squad will have 22 games versus top 35 opponents. Not only will TCU square off versus top 10 teams during conference play, but they will battle against the No. 1 team in the nation Vanderbilt, No. 10 UCLA, No. 13 Cal Poly, No. 19 Arizona State, No. 22 Rice, No. Wichita State and No. 35 Loyola-Marymount.
With that tough schedule, TCU will have a number of strong arms to keep their team ERA as low as possible. Collegiate Baseball announced their Preseason All-America selections and Preston Morrison and Riley Ferrell were two of the three Big 12 Conference players selected (TTU’s Eric Gutierrez was third).
TCU baseball will begin their season at home versus Southern Illinois on February 13 at 6:30pm. Baseball in Fort Worth on a Friday night under the lights, who could ask for anything more?
