Summary
After pulling in respectable recruiting class and adding a handful of JuCo transfers, the Lions are looking to build upon their 11th place finish in the Southland Conference under second-year head coach Jay Ladner. The Lions return their top two scorers from a year ago in Zay Jackson and Joshua Filmore. The duo of guards combined to average 27.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game. Jackson figures to be a big piece of SELA's offense in his senior season.
The Lions will look to their young core to step up this season, as the team's only other double-digit scorers are no longer with the program. Cedric Jenkins and Deconte Upson averaged 11.2 and 10.8 points per game respectively a year ago. A big key for Southeastern Louisiana this year will be whether or not the team can increase scoring and rebounding margins. The Lions averaged just 68.3 points per game and was outrebounded by more than 11 boards per game last season.
Prediction
TCU 74, Southeastern Louisiana 58
The Frogs will open the 2015-2016 season as big favorites over the Southeastern Louisiana Lions. If all goes according to plan, TCU will christen the newly renovated $80 million Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena with a solid win. The Lions provide a relatively easy opponent for TCU to begin their big rebuild on offense after losing much of their scoring core.
