Frogs in the Pros: October 15-21, 2015

We saved our best FITP for last. Relive Arrieta's last stand of the season during Game 2 in the series against the Mets.

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

With football season in full swing and some crazy weeks behind us, we wanted to save our last FITP recap for a fitting occasion.  And what better occasion than our own Andrew Felts' Kansas City Royals winning the World Series last night?!  While we're still a little huffy about the Royals trading Finnegan mid-season, we give them a big FOW CONGRATS on a great postseason.  So without further ado, here is our last FITP recap for the year...

Here's a look at how our last remaining MLB Frog faired the in the POSTSEASON during the week of October 15-21, 2015:

Jake Arrieta (P/Chicago Cubs) –

The final game of the 2015 season for Jake Arrieta was Game 2 of the National League Championship on October 18. The Cubs played the Mets in Chicago. Arrieta pitched 5 innings. Unfortunately, Arrieta had a rough go of it. In the bottom of the 1st, Curtis Granderson hit a single to right field and scored on a double to deep centerfield by David Wright. Daniel Murphy followed immediately with a 2-run homer. Then in the bottom of the 3rd, Yoenis Cespedes brought Granderson in again on a single to shortstop. The Cubs just couldn’t catch up, and they lost 4-1. Arrieta allowed 4 runs (all earned) on 4 hits, including that 1 homerun. He walked 2 and struck out 8. This was Arrieta’s first loss since July 25, and it was only his 9th loss this season. He pitched a total of 248 2/3 innings, which is 92 more innings than he pitched in 2014. We wish Arrieta the best in the offseason, and we look forward to watching him play next season. To view Arrieta’s full season stats, click here.
