Big 12
No. 12 Baylor (9-2) vs. Texas (4-7)
Jamie Plunkett: Baylor 42, Texas 17 - Baylor dominates Texas, but it's not as impressive as TCU's win, keeping the Bears behind the Frogs in the final standings.
Marshall Weber: Baylor 31, Texas 21 - Great. Fun. Cool. Game. But seriously, and I’m not going to pick them, but I can see Texas winning this game. And why not? They beat the team that’s first in the conference, and using the run game of Chris Warren III--not only his skill, but just eating up clock and keeping it out of Baylor’s hands--could really put them in a position to win. This, is also dependent on their defense showing up. Make a play, MALIK! We’ll get another chance to see how good Chris Johnson actually is; without a wet football, wet fields, etc.
Melissa Triebwasser: Texas 27, Baylor 26 - Heart over head? You betcha. Hey, Texas is the only team to take down Oklahoma this year, it can't be impossible to think they might take down a very deflated Bears team who's QB seemed lost last week, can it? We will find out a lot about the heart of the Bears against UT, as well as how the Horns players feel about Charlie Strong. Do the Bears have enough fight in them to rally the troops for a Sugar Bowl berth? Or now that the Big XII title and playoff spot has been washed away, do they still care?
Hawkeyed Frog: Baylor 38, Texas 17
Andrew Felts: Baylor 41, Texas 20 - This game is a win-win for us, IMO. Either the biggest program in the state finishes the year 4-8, or Baylor loses. I want to pick Texas for the entertainment value, but I don't think the Longhorns stand a chance.
HToadSwayze: Baylor 45, Texas 21 - This game is almost akin to choosing a rooting interest In a fight between Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather. Neither one is likable, and most of the country would probably be happiest if they both lost. But since one has to win, give me Rousey.
Mason Jamboogie: Baylor 38, Texas 33 - I really want Texas to win this so that I don't even have to think about Baylor being ranked above us next week. Also it would ensure that we at least go to the Alamo Bowl. Anyways, I think that Charlie and his team will be playing with everything they have because they MUST win this game in order to even be considered for a bowl.
Rusty Frog: Baylor 38, Texas 24 – The Bears are pissed and the Horns are dying for the upset. The Bears will get this one, but they won’t cover the (current) 20-point spread.
Simone Elices: Baylor 56, Texas 24 - I expect Baylor to come out and crush UT, especially since it’s at home and their last regular season game. Then again, maybe the Bears have yet to recover from their loss in Fort Worth and fall flat in their 11am matchup. One can only hope...
Warrior Horned Frog: Baylor 66, Texas 42 – The game’s in Waco, and there’s only a 10% chance of rain Saturday. Dang it. I want to go back to San Antonio. I’ll be ecstatic if the Horns do Hook ‘Em.
Samantha Calimbahin: Texas 31, Baylor 30 - I'm probably going to lose these pick things so might as well do what I want. Longhorns over Bears on a miracle play. Like a hail mary. Or a kick six. Or a safety.
Scott Boase:
Kansas State (5-6) vs. West Virginia (7-4)
Jamie Plunkett: West Virginia 35, Kansas State 20 - Kansas State doesn't get bowl eligible, unless their one of the few 5-7 teams invited to fill the rest of the bowl slots. The real question though, is whether or not this is Bill Snyder's last season?
Marshall Weber: West Virginia 34, Kansas State 30 - We'll get more Trill Bill next year, but hopefully his likely farewell tour will be better than this. Also is WV really playing Kansas State? I felt like this game has happened like 3x already.
Melissa Triebwasser: West Virginia 31, Kansas State 28 - WVU will finish on a high note and secure Holgo's job for another run. K State on the other hand, has to be wondering about their future, even with Snyder having said he will return.
Hawkeyed Frog: West Virginia 27, Kansas State 10
Andrew Felts: West Virginia 28, Kansas State 21 - With the exception of maybe Texas Tech, Kansas State has beat the teams they were supposed to beat and lost to the teams they were supposed to lose to. I think that trend will continue this Saturday with the Mountaineers paying a visit to Manhattan. Have no fear, though, K-State fans, as the Wildcats are likely going bowling even with a 5-7 record.
HToadSwayze: West Virginia 34, Kansas State 27 - Both of these teams are good at running the ball and questionable at times throwing it. That's a recipe for struggling in the Big 12 or being a juggernaut in the SEC. Since this is the Big 12, I'm going with the team that throws it best.
Mason Jamboogie: West Virginia 35, Kansas State 24 - Congrats Kansas State, you are officially not the worst team in the state of Kansas. Hopefully Bill Snyder will get a better team next year.
Rusty Frog: West Virginia 28, Kansas State 21 – West Virginia seems to have gotten its groove back lately. I’m giving them the win in Manhattan.
Simone Elices: Kansas State 42, West Virginia 35 — Kansas State has its last chance to break even for the season against a decent West Virginia team. But with a little Bill Snyder magic (and a late 4th quarter touchdown) I believe they can make it happen for their home crowd on Saturday afternoon.
Warrior Horned Frog: West Virginia 38, Kansas State 32 – This could be an interesting game to watch, but the meaning of "There’s no place like home" in Kansas has changed considerably this year.
Samantha Calimbahin: Kansas State 35, West Virginia 30 - What team? Wildcats! What team? Wildcats! WHAT TEAM?! Wildcats. WILDCATS! GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME! WOO!!! Now, onward to .500!
