Texas has moved on to their next choice, Tulsa OC Sterlin Gilbert, who was in Austin this morning for an interview.
The move comes after multiple days of tense waiting, as Cumbie met with Charlie Strong in Fort Worth on Sunday evening, where he received an offer reported around $1.3 million for three seasons to become Texas' next offensive coordinator. Cumbie met with Strong again on Monday, down in Austin, to continue the conversation.
However, Cumbie returned to Fort Worth on Monday evening without having reached a decision. He met with TCU head coach Gary Patterson on Tuesday morning, and was reportedly out recruiting for the Frogs on Tuesday afternoon.
Cumbie thanked Texas for the offer.
Cumbie: I want to thank Charlie Strong and everyone at the University of Texas for the opportunity to be the Offensive Coordinator there.
