Well that was tons of fun. TCU knocked off Kansas State 69-55 for their second consecutive win, and third in conference play this season. Four Frogs scored in double digits, led by Chris Washburn with 17. Kaviar Shepherd (12), Kenrich Williams (11), and Amric Fields (10) were the other Frogs that led the way. Washburn and Shepherd also pulled down eight rebounds each.
TCU started the game off well on both ends of the court, making over 61% of their shots in the first half, while holding Kansas State to a season low 15 first half points. At the break, Shepherd had nine points and seven rebounds, and seemed destined for a double-double.
Things got off to a shaky start in the second half though, as Kansas State opened up on a 13-2 run, pulling back to within nine before TCU could blink. Kansas State whittled the lead down to six, 41-35, when TCU broke off a 9-0 run to extend the lead back to 15. The Frogs would never look back from that point.
Kansas State did climb to within 10 points with a few minutes left in the game, but TCU was solid from the free throw line, going 9-of-16 over the last three minutes of the game.
Kyan Anderson scored nine points on 3-of-7 shooting, but he overtook Kurt Thomas for sixth all-time on TCU's scoring list. He's now 111 points behind Reggie Smith for fifth all-time.
The Frogs winning streak is the first in Big 12 conference play, and the win clinches a winning record for the regular season. TCU faces off against Kansas on Saturday, followed by Texas Tech next Wednesday.
