Purple powers collide for the third time this season as both teams will be endeavoring to harm the other's postseason chances and earn a date with the Jayhawks in round 2.

The Big 12 tournament gets underway tonight with an opening matchup that is very heavy on the purple. It's clutch time for the Frogs if they still have their sights set on an NIT bid- the NIT bracketologists have us definitively on the wrong side of the bubble at the moment, and while beating KSU may not change that by itself, it is a necessary first step for the Frogs if they're going to have any hope at improving their lot in life. You're likely familiar with the Wildcats of KSU at this point, but Andrew has a great refresher as always, and the summation of it is that we're pretty evenly matched. The teams split the regular season with each team defending their home court, but after the Frogs double digit thumping of the Cats in Fort Worth the Wildcats turned it on to upset both the regular season Big 12 champion Jayhawks as well as Iowa State in back to back games. Will the KSU team that beat Kansas show up tonight, or will it resemble more of the team that recorded its worst shooting half in school history in the first half against the Frogs? We're about to find out.
