FORT WORTH – For the second consecutive week a TCU baseball player has been honored by the Big 12 as Cody Jones was named Player of the Week. TCU has earned three weekly honors this season.

Jones led the team with a .643 average in four wins last week. He posted a .706 on-base percentage and a .706 slugging percentage. Two of his nine hits on the week were doubles and he collected a team-leading four RBI. In addition, he played flawless defense, recording nine putouts in center field.

At Loyola Marymount on Tuesday, Jones had just one hit, but it was a big one as it gave TCU a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning. He finished the game 1-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.

In the series sweep over Baylor, Jones was on base 11 straight times (all consecutively) and was retired just once. He went 8-for-9 at the plate with two doubles, two RBI, three walks and three runs scored. In game one, he was a perfect 4-for-4 with an RBI, which gave TCU a 1-0 lead in the third inning. In game two, Jones was on base all four times with two hits and two walks. His lead-off double in the sixth helped TCU tie the game. He also drew a walk in the seventh, an inning in which the Frogs eventually scored the game-winning run. In the series finale, Jones was 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI. He walked to open the game and scored the first run of the game. He also doubled home a run in the six-run third inning.

Preston Morrison was named the Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 23 after a dominating start at No. 4 Arizona State. Alex Young was honored as the Pitcher of the Week on March 9 for his performance at No. 4 UCLA.
