TCU has just released a statement announcing that TCU senior guard Trey Zeigler, a transfer from Pitt, has received the Phillips 66 Big 12 Newcomer of the Week award for his performances against Texas Tech and Oklahoma last week.

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU senior Trey Zeigler was honored Monday as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

Zeigler helped the Horned Frogs win their third straight conference home game, posting 15 points and four rebounds in a win over Texas Tech. The senior guard was 6-of-11 (.545) from the field against the Red Raiders. He came back and had another strong outing at Oklahoma, scoring 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting while recording a season-high five assists. Zeigler averaged 15.5 points and shot 52.2 percent in two contests. He has scored 15 points or more in three straight outings, shooting 50 percent or higher each time.

Zeigler began his collegiate career at Central MIchigan, where his father was the head coach. He transferred to Pitt when his father was let go from CMU, but a lack of playing time inspired him to make one more move, this time to Fort Worth and TCU.

He sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules, but in 2014-15, Zeigler has been an incredible asset for the Horned Frogs, averaging 9.5 points per game on 46.6% shooting, and 4.1 rebounds per contest.

Congrats, Trey!
