TCU Baseball: Sunday Gamethread

Alex Young looks to get the Frogs a series win in Sunday's finale. And yes, this game's actually on television...

Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

Well, I just now realized that I didn't put my Weekend Preview for you Friday. That's 1200 words you'll never get to see. I was wondering why no one was making comments as to how all my 7-6 continued to be relevant Friday night. The Frogs once again lost in extras Friday night, by the same, familiar score. And on Saturday, like UCLA two Saturdays ago, they rebounded and got the win in controlling fashion.

The series' fate now depends on its only weekend lefty, Alex Young.

Underdog Day Afternoon

Due to Connor Wanhanen absence in today's starting lineup; transfer Nolan Brown is my player to watch today--as he continues to be the most underrated player on this team. Brown is second on the team in BA (.344), OBP (.404), hits (21), doubles (4), hits (22), and tied for first in runs with (16)--a title he shares with Cody Jones. Because of the Joneses, Nolan Brown, and the balance, TCU has climbed up to No. 3 in the Big 12 in team batting; behind only Texas Tech and Oklahoma State--both of whom are traditionally known for their hitting whereas TCU is not. (Stats are through Friday and his BA has dipped to .313)

I also predicted that the Frogs would drop one this weekend, I just thought the best chance for it wouldn't be Friday as Jon Perrin hadn't indicated in 2015 that he was capable of throwing like he did Friday. Much less, how great Mitchell Traver and the defense had been up to that point as well.

So here we are on Sunday, with a series win on the line and the most undervalued member of TCU's Fantastic Four on the bump.
