TCU baseball clinched a Regular Season Big 12 Championship on Thursday night with a 5-4 victory over Oklahoma. It is the first regular-season Big 12 Championship for the Frogs, who won the Big 12 Tournament in 2014 en route to a College World Series appearance.
Alex Young got the start for the Frogs and went six innings, striking out six along the way. Young ran into trouble in the fifth inning, though. With two outs and the bases loaded, Anthony Hermelyn singled up the middle, driving in two runs to give Oklahoma a 4-2 lead.
An error by the Sooners in the sixth helped TCU creep to within 4-3, and a Keaton Jones blast, his fourth of the season, evened things up in the seventh.
It would stay tied at 4 until the ninth inning, when another error by Oklahoma allowed Derek Odell to score, giving TCU the 5-4 lead.
From there, it was all Riley Ferrell, who earned his 13th save of the season, striking out two on the way to victory.
The Frogs still have two more games against the Sooners, but now they can breath easy knowing they've got the regular season title locked down.
