Frogs in the Pros, July 16-22, 2015

A week-by-week look at how our Baseball Alums are representing in the Major and Minor Leagues across professional baseball.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Here's a look at how the 7 MLB Frogs faired the week of July 16-July 22, 2015:

Jake Arrieta (P/Chicago Cubs) - Arrieta continues to dominate each week.  The Cubs played the Braves in Atlanta on July 19th.  Arrieta pitched 7 innings and allowed only 3 hits.  The Braves tried hard but couldn't manage a run on him.  The Cubs won 4-1.  Arrieta walked 3 but struck out 10, and his ERA has dropped to 2.52, with a WHIP of .98.  You can see more stats from his 2015 season here.

Matt Carpenter (3B/St. Louis Cardinals) - The Cardinals played the Mets at home July 17-19.  In the first game of the series, Carpenter had an RBI in the bottom of the 6th.  The Cardinals won 3-2.  On July 18th, Carpenter scored in the bottom of the 1st in what ended up being a dominating 12-2 victory.  On July 21, Carpenter went 2 for 5 against the White Sox, with an RBI in the top of the 2nd.  The Cardinals lost 8-5.  Carpenter's AVG is .167.  For more stats from Carpenter's 2015 season, click here.

Andrew Cashner (P/San Diego Padres) - Cashner got screwed on July 19th against the Rockies!  A random San Diego rainstorm caused the game to end after only 4 ½ innings, which means it doesn't actually count as a game.  Unfortunately, Casher was playing great and had struck out 8 when the game was called.  The game was postponed until September 10.  Here's hoping Casher can pull a repeat performance for that game.  His ERA holds steady at 4.10 with a WHIP of 1.34.  For more of Cashner's stats, click here.

Taylor Featherston (3B/Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) -  The Angels played the Red Sox on July 20th.  Featherston went 1-for-1 but failed to score in the Angels' 11-1 victory in the first game of a double-header.  He also played shortstop starting in the 7th.  He went 0-for-3 in the second game, but the Angels still pulled out a victory of 7-3.  On July 22nd, the Angels played the Twins at home.  Featherston went 1-for-2 and was a pinch-runner in the 4th, but he was unable to score.  It was also nice to see him spend some time playing 3rd base.  His AVG is currently .134.  You can see more of his season here.

Brandon Finnegan (P/Kansas City Royals) -Finny is still being tossed back and forth between the Royals and their Triple-A team in Omaha.  He pitched the 11th and 12th innings on July 18th against the White Sox in a lengthy 13-inning game.  He allowed 1 hit, 0 runs, and struck out 2.  The Royals finally won 7-6.  He was sent to Omaha on July 19th, only to get called back up on July 22nd. Rumor has it he may be seeing more game time as a starter with Jason Vargas facing the disabled list.  We aren't complaining!  His ERA currently sits at 2.96.  For more on Finnegan's season, you can go here.

Bryan Holaday (C/Detriot Tigers) - The Tigers moved Holaday to their Triple-A team in Toledo on July 3rd.  Check out stats on his Triple-A season below.  Check out all of his stats here.

Chad Huffman (Outfielder/Chiba Lotte Marines) -  Chiba Lotte hasn't posted anything new for Huffman.  His AVG currently sits at .260.  You can continue to follow his season here and here.
