KaVontae Turpin, a freshman receiver from Monroe, La., has turned heads on kickoff and punt return duty.

"Good player. Never gets tired," Patterson said. "Does a little of everything. I wish I could put him on defense."

Gophers avoid full contact, much like first opponent TCU | Minnesota Star Tribune

Interesting note about the Big 12 limiting the number of full contact practices per week beyond the NCAA limits.

NCAA guidelines limit teams to three full-contact sessions per week, including games, to help reduce concussions and other injuries. The Big 12 recently scaled that back to two times per week.

Josh Doctson (6-3, 195, Sr.), who appears on watch lists for the Biletnikoff Award and Maxwell Award, had a breakout campaign in 2014. He set TCU season records for receiving yards (1,018) and touchdown catches (11), while his 65 receptions were one shy of another mark (66, Josh Boyce, 2012).

Adam Oviedo also held offers from Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Florida International.

Oviedo is a two-time all-district and All-Johnson County selection during his first two years of high school for the Indians. In 2015, Oviedo boasted a .441 batting average with 14 RBIs and two home runs this season while being a stellar defender at shortstop for the Indians this season.
