Johnson has been impressive in the first two games of the season, and he's got one person in mind to credit for his preparedness.

“Coach P, in practice the past two years, he’s really been just pushing me and preparing me for this day,” Johnson said last week after recording five tackles, a pass breakup and an interception return for a touchdown in the Horned Frogs’ 70-7 victory over Stephen F. Austin.

Rivalries get weird, especially ones that have been around for this long. Last year's game didn't exactly have that rivalry feeling with a sparse crowd at Ford Stadium and two teams heading in different directions. This season's matchup will feel a bit more like it should, but the play on the field won't be all that close.

Heisman Trophy hopeful Trevone Boykin and the Frogs followed their opening victory at Big Ten team Minnesota with a 70-7 win over FCS team Stephen F. Austin in their home opener. They have won 10 in a row, second only to defending national champion Ohio State’s 15-game winning streak.


TCU volleyball player makes program history | TCU 360

McGuire, a junior middle blocker, became the first in program history to receive honors for three straight weeks. She was awarded the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for both of the past two weeks.

She earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors on Aug. 31.
