TCU vs. SMU Game Thread and 3 Things To Look For

The Frogs look to improve to 3-0 on the season over a down, but improving SMU team.

The Horned Frogs take on the SMU Mustangs tonight, and this is the place to hang and chat with fellow Frog fans about the game.

Here are three things to look for as you watch and chat with us.

1) Front 7 Containing Matt Davis

Matt Davis has been revolutionary for this SMU offense two games into the season. He's run for over 100 yards in each of their first two games, and against a young TCU front, could very well do damage on the ground tonight. It will be important for TCU's defense to set the edge and collapse the pocket, giving Davis limited opportunities to run the ball. If they can force him into being a one-dimensional player, the secondary can handle the rest.

2) TCU's Running Game

The Frogs running game has been rather underwhelming in the first two contests, with Boykin and Green combining for a little over 200 yards on the ground through two games. Establishing the run against an SMU defense that's less than stellar will help put this game out of reach early, and allow the Frogs to burn clock late.

3) Who Starts At Weak Safety?

Michael Downing sat atop the depth chart at weak safety all week, after Kenny Iloka went down with a season-ending ACL injury, but Gary Patterson made it clear that they will have options behind him. They made need more speed at that position, and that could come in the form of Arico Evans, Nick Orr, or even Derrick Kindred.
