We know that these polls are not nearly as relevant as they were just two short years ago, but that doesn't mean we can't get worked up about them.
But in the case of TCU falling from No. 2 to No. 3 in the latest Coaches Poll, thanks to a shaky effort against Minnesota, we shouldn't complain too much.
After all, Alabama thoroughly dismantled a ranked Wisconsin team. And, in reality, these rankings hold very little weight with the CFP Committee, who follows whatever whim or fancy has captured their attention from week to week. This year, the committee will release weekly rankings beginning on October 28.
For now, though, TCU is ranked No. 3 in the country behind Ohio State and Alabama, while slightly ahead of Baylor, Oregon, and Michigan State.
Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, and USC round out the top 10. Oklahoma, the only Big 12 team ranked besides TCU and Baylor, checks in at No. 17. Every member of the SEC West, minus Mississippi State, appears in this week's coaches poll.
Here is the complete list:
|1||Ohio State (61)||Ohio State (63)|
|11||Florida State||Notre Dame|
|16||Texas A&M||Georgia Tech|
