TCU Random Fact of the Week: Numbers Players Will Never Wear

There are three numbers TCU football players can’t wear. Can you guess which ones?

Jersey numbers mean a lot to athletes for sure, but there are three numbers that mean even more to TCU.

TCU football players aren’t allowed to wear Nos. 8, 45 and 5. So which legendary players do those numbers belong to?

The answer is in ginormous purple text below.

O’Brien’s number was the first to be retired in 1939. Baugh’s number followed in 1993, and Tomlinson’s number was retired in 2005.

Some folks have called for other jerseys to be retired, from Andy Dalton (14) to recent stars like Trevone Boykin (2) and Josh Doctson (9).

I mean, it could be a good idea. But if we retired too many numbers, we might run out of numbers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
