Ross Blacklock Locks In With TCU

After announcing his intentions at the US Army All American Bowl, the DT out of Elkins High signed his name on the dotted line Wednesday.

Ross Blacklock's commitment wasn't just a big deal because he is a high caliber player that fills a need for Gary Patterson's defense, but also because of how he did it - on the biggest stage in one of the biggest games there is for high school all-stars. For Blacklock to stand up and choose the Frogs, in front of a national audience, put the country on notice that the little school in Cowtown wasn't going away any time soon.

A four star talent (according to 247 Sports) with a rating off over 90, the 6'4", 326 pound DT out of Missouri City chose the Frogs over A&M, Alabama, Houston, and scores of other offers. With an exceptional first step and unbelievable strength, it's no wonder he was one of the most highly prized prospects in Texas and an All American. The son of former Globetrotter Jimmy Blacklock, Ross initially leaned towards the sport of his father, but eventually paved his own way as an athlete on the gridiron as opposed to the hardwood. Excellent against the run, Blacklock should improve as a pass rusher as his raw talents are converted into refined skill at the next level. And under the tutelage of one of the best defensive minds in the country, he could be a true great.
