Having already secured their fourth straight series win to open the season, the Frogs will look to Rex Hill to lock down their first sweep of the season. The Mountaineers gave TCU everything they could handle to open Big XII play, backing them into a corner Friday to the point they needed two rallies and an eighth inning explosion to win their first conference game of the season. Saturday played out more like what we expect from Schloss' squad, as they rode a dominant Brian Howard performance to coast to a 7-1 win. Sunday will bring about Rex Hill's turn on the mound, and after being pummeled a week ago by USC to the tune of 10 hits and six earned runs, the JuCo transfer will try and get back to basics and secure the fourth straight W for his team.
TCU has been led this weekend by the timely hitting of Michael Landestoy, who has made the most of his opportunity as a fill in for the injured Connor Wanhanen, going three for seven and scoring three runs in the first two games. Second baseman Cam Warner has also been hot, knocking in four RBIs in the series.
On the other side of the diamond, leadoff hitter Kyle Davis has been excellent, collecting three hits and wreaking havoc on the base paths. The Eers will look to BJ Myers to salvage one win on the weekend, and he has been very good to open the year, sporting a 2-1 record and 1.98 ERA in 27.1 innings pitched.
This will be a big game for TCU Baseball and Rex Hill, as they look to make a statement in the Big XII by sweeping a team that has looked like the biggest competition to the conference crown through the preseason. Hill is 1-1 on the year in four starts, but saw his ERA balloon to 4.91 after his struggles against USC a week ago. The game can be watched live at Lupton or caught on radio on 88.7.
